Client Spotlight: San Diego Children's Discovery Museum
The Challenge: In order to meet the goal of increasing in number of students served each year, the San Diego Children’s Discovery Museum needed to purchase a larger space and build out interactive exhibits.
Fitz's Solution: Through our campaign management services, we identified and recruited a strong working campaign chair, Susanne Stanford. Through coaching and providing strategy of the campaign chair and the Executive Director, Javier Guerrero, we successfully raised major donations from San Diego’s most prominent funders: Price Philanthropies Foundation, David C. Copley Foundation, Rosemary Kraemer Raitt Foundation, Thomas C. Ackerman Foundation, the Linden Root Dickinson Foundation (LRDF), and many other contributors. A prominent campaign honorary board was a big key to our success because they lent their names and financial support to the Museum.
The Outcome: Fundraised the $3.5 million needed to purchase 12,000 square feet that included indoor and outdoor interactive exhibits for children ages 0-12 years old. Due to the expanded, new facility, family and children attendance soaring from 15,000 annual visitors in 2011 to 145,000 annual visitors in 2016. Check out my chat with Javier Guerrero, Executive Director, where we chat through our work together to raise the funding for the campaign.
